After many years of running a Game Bird Farm, pheasants and chukars we decided
to down sized the operation and only raise 10,000 chukars instead of 40,000 so we can devote more time with chessies, my true
passion. We finally have enough top quality chessies to offer pups to the public.
We take the breeding of our chessies seriously.
We know when you purchase a puppy it will be a long-term relationship. We
make it every effort to be sure that the puppies will be sound of body and mind.
The dogs we use for breeding are mainly dogs we have raised here on the farm. We generally have their parents, grandparents and some cases great grandparents of the puppies you will be getting.
We always encourage people interested in our puppies, to come see our dogs as we are quite proud of them. We want you to see what they come from. Be sure to check out
the pictures of our dogs. All dogs that we breed are Pennhip. We prefer it over
OFA as we feel it gives you a better in site on the dogs hips. If you would like
more information on Pennhip go to the web at www.vet.upenn.edu/pennhip.
As we sit here trying to put thoughts into words (not easy) we count 6 sleeping
chessies at our feet and one missing, on the sofa.
We truly believe that our chessies are the finest dogs you'll find anywhere
regardless if you want a house pet or a great hunting companion. My best hunting
dogs are my house dogs. We hunt everything with them, pheasants and my favorite is chukars in the woods. They tree squirrels,
and every turkey I killed I've had a chessie with me. I rabbit hunt with 2 beagles
and 2 chessies together and when we jump a rabbit the chessies come to me, sitting one on each side of me until the beagles
bring the rabbit back. My Duke even went up in the deer blind with me. Of course chessies are fantastic water dogs. I'd rather have
a bad day in a duck blind with my dogs, than a limit of ducks without my dogs. Mostly
take two with me.
Had a guy come in one day to pick up pheasants, had about 12 of my chessies
running loose. When he finally got out of his truck he said he always heard that
anyone owning 1 chessie was crazy and what did that say about me. My answer was,
maybe I know something that the rest don't.
If you can't come see our place and dogs, check out our pictures.
Nothing says love like the pitter-patter of chessie feet.
My motto is go see the rest and come get the best.
